Here’s a good shot I found on Twitter of a hummingbird sitting on a nest.
Just to give you a thought about the size of the nest, this hummingbird will be no larger than 3.5″. Hummingbirds bind the exterior of the nest with spider’s silk. The interior can be lined with animal hair and plant down.
The male hummingbird spends a few seconds aiding in reproduction then the rest consisting of building the nest, nesting on the eggs, and caring for the young falls to the female.
